The journal was founded in 1993 as "Słupskie Studia Historyczne". In 2015 its name was changed to " Scripta Historica". This is an annual journal dedicated to the Polish and world history of all periods. It is published by Press of Pomeranian University in Słupsk. The published texts include research articles, source materials, reviews, polemics and reports in Polish, English, Russian and Ukrainian. The Editorial Board accepts only original papers for publishing that have not been published before.

Each scentific paper should be titled and as well as an abstract should be provided. All scentific article should be followed by bibliography written using the latin alphabet. Autors are kindly asked to provide a half-page-long abstract in Polish (or in the language the article is written) and it will be translated by the editorial department into English.

Autors are not charged for the cost or any other fees for publishing their papers. The articles are published in the traditional form (printed) and will be accessible on the journalʼs website free of charge.
Manuscripts submitted for possible publication shoud be sent to the editor in chief or to secretary of the journal.

The journal was positively evaluated as part of Index Copernicus and was once again included in the ICI Journals Master List database for 2024 with an evaluation result of ICV 2024 = 52.23.
